Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scan
Nothing by mouth for at least 6 hours before your appointment, but you may drink
water and continue to take any prescribed medications. Also, it is very important
that no caffeine be consumed 24 hours prior to the test, including certain medications,
chocolate, soda, tea, and even decaffeinated coffee and tea. If you have diabetes,
please contact the center for instructions.
Cardiac PET Scan
You should follow the instructions for a PET scan listed above. In addition,
smokers must stop smoking for 6 hours prior to their appointment.
